Attention students and families of future licensed drivers. MHS is looking to offer Driver's Ed this spring. We have two options available, that will be dictated by interest. Option 1, the class will be offered during school hours for all of 2nd semester. Driving will happen after school later this year. Cost is $175. We need 20 students to make this happen. Option 2 is outside of the school day. Classes will take place in the morning before school starts with driving after school. The cost for this option is $350. If interested, call the school at 745-3811 extension 2023 (Lou Rice) and get your name on the list ASAP.

Clarification of News Article Regarding Threat to St. Ignatius School District I would like to clarify the recent news article in The Leader suggesting that the St. Ignatius School District was under some sort of threat before Thanksgiving break. On November 26th, I was notified by the FBI and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department that they were apprehending a suspect near the school. As a precaution, they requested a soft lockdown in case the suspect attempted to flee. We remained in a soft lockdown for approximately 30 minutes, after which we were told that we could return to normal procedures. At no point did law enforcement indicate that our schools or students were part of any threat or safety concern. We were not given specific details about the situation or the ongoing investigation. Following the publication of the article, I reached out to law enforcement for clarification. They confirmed that there was no indication that St. Ignatius Schools was under any direct threat, and there was no need to share further details about the case. The individual in question was detained, and while this person was not from our community, this individual had been staying in town at the time. According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, there was never a threat directed at our school district. If any threat ever arises, I can assure you that we will promptly notify everyone. The safety of our children is my top priority, and I remain committed to ensuring that students and staff are kept safe, which is our most important responsibility.
